Newly-installed Commissioner Cesar R.
Dulay of the Bureau of
Internal Revenue (BIR) asked grafters in the agency to resign, or face investigation and ouster from the service.
Dulay issued the warning after the flag raising rites at the bureau’s main office in Quezon City, telling the men and women of the service of what he intends to do during his stay and what he expects from them to render honest and efficient service to taxpayers.
BIR chief said he will ask grafters to resign right now and will not give them a clean slate, or chance to reform like what Bureau of Customs Director Nicanor Faeldon plans to do to undesirables in the customs bureau.
He did not say whether he has already the prepared list of suspected grafters.
Dulay said the seemingly harsh policy was in line with the instructions of President Duterte to all his subordinates to end corruption in the bureaucracy, particularly in the BIR which the latter tagged as one of the most corrupt agencies of the government.
“Change is coming and join me in the journey to fight corruption.” Dulay told revenuers.
